The Microsoft Project Conference starts this week in Phoenix but I got here a little early.

Today (Sunday) marks the beginning of a intensive two day training course called “Ignite”. The program is designed to train Microsoft Partners, MVP’s and TAP customers so they are more prepared to implement Microsoft Project (desktop) and Server.

There were about 200 people in attendence and a lot of excitement in the room for what is coming.

Since I am currently under NDA, I cannot blog about anything quite yet but can say the first day helped us get up to speed on new key features, deployment options and setting up a new 2010 environment.

Even though I have early access to the software and am familiar with the steps, it was a great session because there were many small things I didn’t know about that will be helpful.

The session was a full day and there’s another full day tomorrow. If there is one thing I’ve complained about frequently is Microsoft historically has not given us early visibility into what’s coming so I am incredibly pleased with the oppenness they have shown.

Looking forward to tomorrow!
